I graduated from La Salle University and went on to spend 11 years working in the mental health field as both a counselor and a mental health program manager. In 2010, I was diagnosed with a serious mold-related illness and was forced to leave my career to undergo years of extensive medical treatments. So I understand what it means to not be able to go to work for a period of time. I know what it feels like to have to pay medical expenses out of pocket. Had I known what I was going to go through, I would have taken different steps — better steps — to be prepared before it happened. I didn't have a crystal ball. I didn't get a warning. Most people don't. Things just happen and they can happen to anyone, any time, and at any age.

 

After going through my ordeal, I decided to change my career to be able to help others better prepare for their future, both known and unknown.  I now work with people to help them protect themselves, their families and their income so they don't have to go through what I went through.
